The propose of this blog will serve as a platform to report the progression of my project to create one of the worlds first oldies Hip hop & R&B radio stations.

What Exactly Is The Idea?

My name is Dominique Garcia. I have been a radio personality for 12 years and a Hip Hop fan my entire life. As I have gotten older in age my distaste for some of the newer music that passes as Hip Hop seemed to grow with every passing year.

Where did all the good Hip Hop go? Why couldn't I find a radio station that played nothing but music from the golden age of Hip Hop? That's because a radio station like that does not exist. That is when it hit me. Why am I waiting for a station like this to emerge when I can create one for myself?

I propose creating an oldies Hip Hop & R&B radio station that will glorify older Hip Hop & R&B music. While traditional FM radio station’s are designed to play the same songs every single hour, mine will have a wide variety of older Hip Hop music, not the same 12 songs being played over and over.
The station will play the best in Hip Hop and R&B in an oldies type of format. Thus creating a station that will be considered to be one of the first oldies Hip Hop & R&B radio stations in existence. The station will be dedicated to giving listeners the best of the 80′s, 90′s, and early 00′s.

What Kind Of Music Will This Station Play?

The playlist for this station is going to be enormous. It is difficult to name only a select few artist that we will be playing. However some of the artist will include Ice-T, Ice Cube, Jodeci, 2Pac, Aaliyah, Redman, Eric Sermon, Wu-Tang Clan, Jagged Edge, Naughty By Nature, The Notorious B.I.G., Bobby Brown, Gangstarr, Da Brat, Tevin Campbell, Bell Biv Devoe, Master P, Dana Dane, Boyz II Men, Destiny’s Child, DJ Quik, Janet Jackson, Eric B. & Rakim, Too Short, Whitney Houston, KRS-1, Dru Hill, Run DMC, Outkast, Missy Elliot, LL Cool J, Kool G Rap, Biz Markie, Avant, Kid N Play, Usher, Public Enemy, Eminem, Mariah Carey, Heavy D,Snoop Dogg, PLUS MORE!!

The artist named above are only to give you an idea of the wide variety of what this station will give its listeners.

What Else Will The Station Play?

The station will also have dedicated radio segments such as quiet storm, old school music blocks dedicated to certain years or artist. For example an hour of songs strictly from 1993 or perhaps an hour of only 2pac songs. Regional music blocks such as an hour from only Westside artist, etc. The station will also show love to unsigned artist with an unsigned artist segment. There will also be a freestyle type of radio segment where rappers battle each other with an old school beat. Plus more!

What If I’m Not In Your City? How Do I Listen?

The station can be heard from anywhere on the planet and will not be restricted to only one city. Everyone will have access to listen to the radio station by listening on the station web page, smart phone application, or the Tune In Radio App.

Closing Statement

Doing such a project has always been a life-long dream of mine, even long before I ever became a radio personality. I feel this could truly turn into something special.

I am not someone who just thought up the idea of creating a radio station then put together a IndieGoGo package in attempts to get funded. I have actual commercial radio experience and am confident and optimistic that I can make this project a successful reality. I certainly have the knowledge and know-how on how to make it all work.
